Finally, this is perfect picture book storytelling to be appreciated and shared. Furthermore, Bookwagon loves the humour, style, construction, illustration and language. Somehow, the situation, though recognisable as a penguin dilemma, may be equally familiar to the human population.

He thinks it’s too long, too bendy, too necky. It seems as though there’s a broad sweep of considerations such as we’re familiar with from Giraffe Problems. The story centers on Edward, an insecure, self-conscious giraffe. Might it cause the complainer to assess his situation and realise somebody else might be worse off? Or possibly, it could create an option to look about and seek a way of saving face and moving (waddling) forward? It’s all to play for, as Jory John suggests in this dynamic and wonderful picture book.

What can be done? Thereafter, have we misunderstood penguins’ situations after all this time? After all, might the sea be TOO salty for penguins? Then again, might fish not be all they’re cut out to be? Furthermore, that cute waddling might actually be really annoying and difficult! Can anyone help?
